Dear All This following message may be of interest. E-Journals: Developing Country Access Survey Last summer INASP were commissioned by CDSI to set up a survey of publishers within the western world to ascertain their activities and opinions in relation to making their content available in the developing world for no cost, or at greatly reduced costs. The finalised report presents the results of this study. As you will see from the results, it appears that the publisher-owned initiatives are few and many publishers consider it too time-consuming for them to initiate their own programmes. However, the survey also identified a great will within most publishers to make their content available, and a great interest in the pan-publisher initiatives, such as PERI. The report can be accessed from the INASP website: http://www.inasp.info/pubs/survey.html -- Best wishes Peter Strickland Managing Editor IUCr Journals ---------------------------------------------------------------------- IUCr Editorial Office, 5 Abbey Square, Chester CH1 2HU, England Phone: 44 1244 342878 Fax: 44 1244 314888 Email: ps@iucr.org Ftp: ftp.iucr.org WWW: http://journals.iucr.org/ NEWSFLASH: Complete text of all IUCr journals back to 1948 now online!
