I fully agree with David about the permissive character of CIF. The background of my remark was the idea, that all informations given in CIF format should be interpretable only on unique way. If a data name of CIF is described in form allowing different interpretation (recommendation), we need additional paragraph describing the way of interpretation. But all them need clear definitions.
