I noticed that mmCIF regular expressions put the esd digits for the concise notation before the exponent, and CIF puts the after the exponent. Is there any standard reference as to which is correct? It appears to be an IUPAC concept, but they apparently do not use it with scientific notation. Does anybody use esd with scientific notation? If not, maybe the concise-esd form can be restricted to non-exponential forms? Joe Krahn
