Dear EPC, Here is some information from ICSTI concerning the Annual General Meeting that I went to recently near Glasgow. As they have produced a report, I don't need to bother. On the private part of the ICSTI web pages there are reports on three of the discussion sessions > > Electronic libraries - relationships between suppliers and customers > Restructuring/rationalization in the information industry > The Digital Object Identifier System which may be of interest to you. I have further notes and documentation. For the presentation on Electronic Libraries, two people from Blackwell Science spoke and as Munksgaard is owned by Blackwell Science it is worth hearing what they said. During his talk, Bannnerman did not specifically mention Healthgate but I talked with him about it over coffee. Best wishes, H. > > MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARIAT TO ALL ICSTI MEMBERS > > ************************************************* > > EXECUTIVE BOARD > > I take pleasure in reminding you - or informing those of you who could not > attend the General Assembly in Scotland - that the newly elected Executive > Board for the triennium 1998-2001 consists of the following: > > OFFICERS: > > - President: John Regazzi, Engineering Information, USA > > - Vice-President: Ben Fouché, Centre for Information Society Development in > Africa (CISDA), South Africa > > - General Secretary: Marie Wallin, Royal Institute of Technology Library, > Sweden > > - Treasurer: Kurt Molholm, Defense Technical Information Center, USA > > MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS: > > - BIOSIS UK (Zoological Record), UK, represented by Michael Dadd > > - The British Library, UK, represented by David Russon > > - Chemical Abstracts Service, USA, represented by David Weisgerber > > - CODATA represented by David Lide > > - Elsevier Science, the Netherlands, represented by Herman Spruijt > > - European Physical Society represented by Claus Montonen (Professor > Montonen from Finland has recently been appointed as Chairman of the EPS > Committee for Publications and Scientific Communication to succeed to > Professor Laloe, and became subsequently the new representative on ICSTI.) > > - INSPEC, UK, represented by Jim Ashling > > - NERAC, USA, represented by Daniel Wilde > > ******************************************* > > SCOTLAND REPORT > > A draft account of the discussion sessions held in Scotland prepared by > Joan Thorne has been mounted on the private page of the ICSTI web site. > > To reach the private page: > > - Go to the ICSTI home page at www.icsti.org > > - At the upper right corner press the button 'Member Services' > > - As requested indicate the userid which is icsti and the password which is > mz333 > > A final version incorporating all the comments received from speakers will > then placed on the public web site in due course. > > ******************************************* > > ANNUAL REPORTS OF MEMBERS > > - New report on the private site: Japan Science and Technology Corporation > > - The INIST report has been replaced by an amended version. > > ******************************************* > > > With best regards, > > Marthe Orfus -- Howard Flack http://www.unige.ch/crystal/ahdf/Howard.Flack.html Laboratoire de Cristallographie Phone: 41 (22) 702 62 49 24 quai Ernest-Ansermet mailto:Howard.Flack@cryst.unige.ch CH-1211 Geneva 4, Switzerland Fax: 41 (22) 781 21 92
