Hi James, In effect they are "_related_function alternate" s for the same definition, as far as I can make out according to http://www.iucr.org/iucr-top/cif/ddl/definitions/Cdata_list_reference.html and http://www.iucr.org/iucr-top/cif/ddl/definitions/Cdata_category.html hope it helps.
